Japan

The trip starts off in Tokyo. Our hotel was in Minato, so we didn’t ever go long without seeing the Tokyo Tower.

Kyoto
It’s easy to fall in love with Kyoto. It’s a cliche but it’s very traditional– a far cry from the bigger cities like Tokyo and Osaka. We stayed in the Gion District, which might be the pinacle of touristy old-school Japan.
We were only here for two days, but there’s just so much to see, eat and experience it was definitely not enough time. And how could you visit Kyoto without heading to the Fushimi Inari Taisha?

Osaka

We did get to watch some preseason japanese baseball at Kyocera Dome, and yes, the Orix Buffaloes won! Never needing to get out of your seat to get beer is a concept we need to adopt in the States.

Nara

Back to Tokyo
Nearing the end of the trip, we still had a couple things to finish doing in Tokyo. It was mostly shopping and eating this time around, so not too many new sights to see, just things to buy.

Food and Junk

In a station in Tokyo, they had this shop–Takano. We’d been talking about expensive fruit for the whole time we were in Japan. The melon was superb, but the rest, they were just great, but for the price I think we were expecting perfection. But that melon was really perfect.
